I'm currently enjoying the Summer before starting a new job.

I was laid off in March, spent some time looking for a new gig, and now I'm just waiting until my start date. With something lined up I'm finally able to just relax and enjoy the season.

While interviewing for jobs I was asked how I got into programming. This reflection prompted me to go back to my roots a bit: buying and reading books from the Computers & Programming section of my local Half Price Books.

So far I've made my way through Absolute FreeBSD, The AWK Programming Language, and sed & awk. Currently I'm in the middle of Learning Go and The Go Programming Language.

Reading about AWK inspired me to create my own static site generator and simple markup language to power this very site.
